I started this blog back in June of 2019. That Casey had no idea what she was in for! We were in the thick of infertility and less than a year later, Covid came onto the scene. Isn’t it so weird to think about that time now? When I look back at those earlier posts, it brings up very specific feelings from a very strange era. None of us understood what was happening and we were all trying to figure it out. It’s strange to feel so far removed from it now that it almost feels like it didn’t happen. And then you’re sitting in a movie theater and the person behind you has a particularly nasty cough and it all comes back…
In that last post, we announced our pregnancy with Adeline, our one healthy, viable embryo. And now she’s five! And Noah’s ten. Our family has changed a lot and I have along with it. So, here I am again, offering a little of what I’ve learned along the way.
This new era will be different for so many reasons! First of all, we are in the planning stages of a really major transition in our family. It requires a lot of logistics, a lot of emotions and loads of planning and details! While I’m not going to get into the details just yet, I do invite you to come along for the ride and I’ll tell you more along the way.
Secondly, midlife, man. Perimenopause is no joke, am I right? Increased anxiety, weight and sweat, decreased energy, libido and hair. I’m in the thick of this and, if you watched Zack, Kelly and Screech on Saturday mornings, you are too! Let’s see if we can figure this thing out together. While I will not be giving medical advice, I’ll share what I’ve learned along the way and what I’ve found to be helpful. Mostly, I hope to help you feel less crazy.
Lastly, in full transparency, I’m dipping my toe into affiliate marketing. Currently, I’m failing miserably, so who knows if it will go anywhere. But, I’m inviting you along for that ride, too. I'm dipping my toe into affiliate marketing. I’m basically going to be your 'Midlife Guinea Pig'—testing out the products that actually help with the anxiety or the night sweats (and the books that help us escape it all) so you don't have to waste your money.
I hope you’ll stick around! We’re going to keep talking about mental health because, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, that’s my passion. But we’re also going to talk about books, travel, family, and that midlife transition.
Did I mention that we’re going to talk about books? Because there was not enough book talk in this space before. I am a reader and lover of books. So, do me a solid and drop any book recs you have in the comments! Bonus points if it’s a cozy mystery (think How to Solve Your Own Murder). Affiliate Link
